The EEA is an EU agency although participation is also open to countries not belonging to the EU but who share the same objectives. The Agency provides up-to-date, focused, relevant and reliable environmental information, working for environmental policy-makers on a European and national level as well as citizens in general.

Natura 2000 network
‘Natura 2000’ is the name given by the Council of the European Union to a structured scheme (network) of areas set apart and devoted to the conservation of the biological diversity present in the EU and in particular to the protection of a series of habitats and species of animal and plant indicated in the “Habitats” and “Bird” directives.

This is an informal EU network set up to administrate EU environmental rules with particular attention to pollution produced by industrial plants and various inspections in the environmental field.

Environmental network
The National Network of the Environmental Authorities and the Programming Authorities of the Community Structural Funds form a centre for the coordination, evaluation, training, exchange of ideas, sharing of experiences and formulation of proposals, criteria and methodologies on the environmental aspects of actions under the Community Structural Funds.

Environment for Europeans is the magazine of the Directorate General for Environment of the European Commission. The aim of the periodical is to inform the European public about the latest environmental news. The publication is distributed free all over the world.
